Delta Gamma

Philanthropy Events

Anchor Splash

Anchor Splash is hosted by more than 125 Delta Gamma collegiate chapters to raise awareness about visual impairments, while also raising funds for the Foundation. The event was started in 1966 by Beta Tau-Miami (Florida). This annual competitive swim meet for sororities, fraternities and campus organizations includes events ranging from the serious to the silly. Collegians compete in synchronized swimming, relay races and individual competition.

Anchor Slam

Anchor Slam is a three-on-three basketball tournament hosted at the NMSU Activity Center in the Spring. Eta Lambda hosted their third annual Anchor Slam and it was open to the public, fraternities, and sororities.

Dessert with DG

For an entry fee of $5 dollars the community is invited to indulge in an unlimited dessert bar provided by delta gamma collegiate members. The entire community looks forward to this event each spring.

New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (NMSBVI):

Over the past few years we have been able to solidify a great relationship between Delta Gamma and the New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Alamogordo. Our members have formed excellent relationships with the kids, and have gotten to known them on a personal basis. During the fall semester we were able to make two big trips down to the Alamogordo. We had a makeover night with the girls at the school in which members were able to bond with girls and give each girl individualized makeovers. It made each girl feel special, and we spent an hour or so just hanging out talking with the girls at the school. We also helped out with NMSBVI’s Halloween carnival fundraiser thrown for the kids at the school as well as the people in the Alamogordo community. Members helped with various booths and the Haunted House. Lastly,  for the past few years we have chaperoned the school prom.

New Mexico Lion’s Crane Reading Foundation:

In January of 2014 we began a new partnership through the Lion’s Club in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The New Mexico Lion’s Crane Reading Foundation has blessed the Eta Lambda chapter in allowing us to assist with eye screenings they conduct throughout the community of Las Cruces. This allows us to work hands on with our philanthropy throughout the semester.
